Oben Group has announced that its Terphane LLC facility in Bloomfield (NY) will be closed and 49 workers will be laid off. A filing with the state Department of Labor says the closure will begin June 30 and end on Oct. 31, according to a report by Rochester Business Journal.
Founded in 1976, Terphane converts flexible-packaging materials for specialty foods, cleaning products, personal-care and industrial applications. It opened the Bloomfield site in 1988.
The business was acquired in November 2024 by Oben, which is based in Peru.
