When Drorys Packlist S.p.A. chose to upgrade its print and lamination capabilities, the Italian label and flex-pack specialist turned to BOBST for the addition of a high-speed gravure press and multi-technology laminator.
Its most recent capital investments include a BOBST RS 6003 gravure press with nine print stations and a BOBST NOVALAM 800 laminator (above) — bought to extend further into flexible packaging with best-in-class machinery. The new systems has joined two BOBST MASTER M5 in-line flexographic-printing presses that serve the company’s many label customers.
“Our relationship with BOBST had gone from strength to strength, giving us the capabilities to succeed in a very competitive market,” says Gabriele Brocani, CEO of Drorys Packlist.
The converter was founded in 1945 and today employs 75 staff and records annual sales of more than US$23 million. Headquartered in Turin, with a second plant in Salerno, its strong expertise lies in the printing and converting of p-s labels, sleeves and flex packs.
With its compact design enabling a shorter web path, the BOBST RS 6003 gravure press creates about 30% less material waste at startup, compared to traditional machines. Energy consumption is lower with the dryer’s air nozzles on both sides for even, faster drying. The Registron register-control system and Total Automatic Pre-Register Setting (TAPS) offer automatic operation to minimize waste of materials, inks, and time. The Flex Trolley also reduces job changeovers to 2.5 minutes per unit.
The new BOBST NOVALAM 800 laminator accommodates a wide range of film and paper substrates, including conventional materials and those optimized for recycling. The versatile laminator offers solvent-, water-based and solventless coating methods and has Registron Mark-to-Mark reading technology for in-register cold-seal and lacquers.
