Paper and paperboard substrate & packaging provider Green Bay Packaging has broken ground on a $1-billion expansion of its Morrilton (AR) kraft-paper mill and facilities in reportedly the largest capital investment in Central Arkansas history.
Titled “Project PowerPack,” the multi-year project will modernize infrastructure, add 300 acres for future growth, and boost the mill’s production capacity. The expansion also supports sustainability, including a new electric turbine generator to reduce greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions. The expansion will create 35 new jobs. Green Bay Packaging already employs more than 620 people in Conway County (AR), operating multiple plants in the region.
“We are truly excited for the future,” says Matt Szymanski, GBP vp-mill operations. “This project reflects our ongoing commitment to quality and sustainability.”
