Release-liner converter Cotek Papers adds Universal X8 slitter/rewinder to equipment arsenal

June 17, 2025

Press release submitted on behalf of Cotek.

Cotek Papers Ltd, Moreton-in-Marsh, UK, a leading producer of double-sided and differential release paper and release film has made a significant investment in specialist converting equipment to expand its technology portfolio. Cotek’s new Universal X8 slitter/rewinder has been running at its premises in the Cotswolds since the beginning of the year. Designed for efficiency, the Universal X8 seamlessly integrates cutting-edge features to complement its current portfolio of precision technology.

Karl Gater, Managing Director of Cotek Papers, says, “Our aim is to increase the efficiency, reliability and quality of our products so that our customers can purchase the best release liners on the market. With the full backing of our parent company Laufenberg GmbH, this is the largest equipment investment made at the UK site in over 10 years. The X8 provides unmatched productivity whilst maintaining ease of use, and with the machine’s advanced integrated systems the team has been able to further improve internal efficiencies.”

Release liners are used in numerous applications such as the converting of adhesive tapes, composite materials, wound dressings, graphic films and many other industrial products and are successfully used by end customers in the automotive, aviation, electronics, industrial tapes and medical technology industries.

Gater continues, “This investment is of strategic significance to us, as it strengthens our focus on creating innovative solutions for release liners and meeting our customers’ requirements, particularly in terms of sustainability: our new coating line is considerably more energy-efficient than our existing converting lines.”

Additional improvements continue within the business to further streamline processes, improve quality and reduce wastestreams.
