Cable Tapes Africa to install second Nicely slitter/rewinder for electrical-insulation materials

November 7, 2024

Johannesburg, South Africa-based Cable Tapes Africa has once again chosen Nicely Machinery, acquiring its second slitter/rewinder, a Model EG-300DL duplex shaft center-surface system, for its electrical-insulation materials converting.

The shipped EG-300DL features a roller width of 1,300 mm, with a minimum slit width of 15 mm and a maximum rewind OD of up to 800 mm, operating at a designed speed of 300 mpm. This addition will support Cable Tapes Africa in meeting growing demands of its expanding markets. This customer previously acquired an EG-300DL, which was delivered in 2009. Today, Cable Tape Africa has become the largest supplier of electrical-insulation tapes in sub-Saharan Africa.

During the FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) held at Nicely’s facility in October, the client provided positive feedback, noting significant enhancements in operational efficiency and upgrades for more intuitive operation.

“At CTA, we are pleased to have forged a relationship with Nicely, so much so that we had to go back to them for seconds,” says CTA Head of Production Tankiso Parkies. “Their high-quality machinery and exceptional customer service have been the highlights of our experience with them. We can not wait for the commissioning of the new Model EG-300DL, with its new and improved features as well as latest technology built into it. It will integrate well with our continuous improvement efforts.”
