American Packaging Corp. to break ground on expanded pouchmaking operations at IA plant

Columbus, WI-based flex-pack converter American Packaging Corporation (APC) says it will begin a major expansion to its Story City, IA, Center of Excellence, housing another investment in state-of-the-art pouchmaking capability and capacity. American Packaging expects to break ground in October 2025 and complete the expansion by the end of September 2026.

APC has a history of investing in world-class facilities and equipment, setting itself apart with a broad portfolio of pouches and bags, along with other flexible-packaging technologies, the company said in a press release. .

Pouches are experiencing signifcant growth in the North American flexible-packaging market, with a projected growth rate of approximately 4.5% a year to 2029, according to a Modor Intelligence study. This growth is driven by increasing consumer demand for convenient packaging solutions and the ability of pouches to offer superior combination of product protection, impactful visual appeal, and convenience features like open and reclose zippers.

APC Operations Director Kevin Neis says, “APC’s Story City Center of Excellence offers award-winning flexographic printing for its preformed pouches and bags, creating vivid graphics with eye-catching shelf appeal that our customers value. We are excited to expand our pouching capacity and capability.”
