Jindal Films Europe to expand Italian BOPE line to meet demand for more sustainable packaging
Jindal Films Europe will expand its Brindisi (Italy) plant, creating 20 new jobs and adding a further 50,000 tonnes/yr capacity of biaxially oriented film. The additional volume will be mainly dedicated to Jindal's BOPE special-film grades, including matte, sealable, coated, metallized and. AlOx films.
The new film developments will be focused on fully sustainable and recyclable packaging solutions and strongly support the company's circular economy efforts. The high-efficiency program also will include the use of solar power and an expansion of the current tri-generation energy systems, thus improving the CO2 footprint of the Brindisi operations.
The project is named "Horizon" because Jindal Films Europe is preparing itself for the future, looking ahead to what is beyond the horizon, the company says in a press release.
The investment is designed to further strengthen Jindal Films Europe's role in the BOPE- and BOPP-film markets. With a new total capacity of 130,000 tonnes/yr, Brindisi will become the largest plant in Europe for BOPE- and BOPP-film manufacturing.
